Convertible passengers report being shot at by other driver

Region Filler

Police are investigating after the driver of an SUV allegedly fired a gun at another vehicle on Monday.

An anonymous caller reported shots fired at about 5:50 p.m. Monday near the 2300 block of South Winslow Court, Bloomington Police Department Lt. John Kovach said. Responding officers met with the driver and three passengers of a green Mitsubishi convertible.

The witnesses told officers they’d been driving on West Graham Drive when they pulled behind a gold SUV. The driver of the SUV leaned out his window and said something to them, and they responded that they weren’t talking to him.

Then the SUV driver, whom witnesses described as a black man in his late teens or early 20s with a tooth gap and short hair, fired a gun, the Mitsubishi passengers told police. Nobody was injured, and the car was not damaged.

Two witnesses told police the man aimed the gun at the ground. Police found one shell casing, Kovach said.

The case is still active.
