IU football announces full schedule for the upcoming season

IU's game vs. Ohio State at Memorial Stadium was the first sold-out home football game in five years.

Indiana football released its full schedule for the 2016-17 season Wednesday morning.

The Hoosiers will start their season at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1 in Miami, Florida against Florida International. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU. IU defeated FIU 36-22 in the second nonconference game last season on their way to the program’s first 4-0 start since 1990.

IU trimmed its nonconference schedule from four teams last season to three teams in 2016, including the first game of a three-year series against Ball State.

Another new addition to the schedule is Nebraska, who comes into Bloomington for IU’s homecoming on Oct. 1.

The regular season will end Nov. 26 against Purdue in Bloomington, while the Big Ten Championship game is scheduled for Dec. 3 in Lucas Oil Stadium.

In total, IU will play host to Ball State, Wake Forest, Michigan State, Nebraska, Maryland, Penn State and Purdue.

IU finished the 2015 season in New York City, where it lost to Duke 41-44 in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, and it led the Big Ten in scoring and total offense.
