FINAL: Michigan State 56, IU 17

Nearly 24 minutes and 35 seconds into Saturday’s game, IU led No. 8 Michigan State 17-14.

Then the Spartans rallied off 42 unanswered points.

Michigan State defeated IU 56-17.

Apart from a few explosive plays—one being a 75-yard reverse rush by senior receiver Shane Wynn—the Hoosier offense was kept in check by Michigan State.

True freshman quarterback Zander Diamont started for IU and completed just 5-of-15 passes for 11 yards.

Comparatively, Michigan State sophomore quarterback Connor Cook was 24-of-32 passing for 332 yards and three touchdowns.

Junior running back Tevin Coleman had 132 yards on 15 carries, but was kept out of the endzone. The scoreless game snaps a streak of 15-consecutive games where Coleman had a score.

His streak of nine-consecutive games where he had more than 100 yards, however, continues.

IU finished with a total of 224 yards, but 140 of those yards came on two runs.

The other 84 yards came on 47 plays, an average of 1.79 yards per offensive play.

IU falls to 3-4 on the season and 0-3 in the Big Ten.
