Ferrell and Robinson enter pretrial diversion program

IU men’s basketball players junior Kevin ‘Yogi’ Ferrell and sophomore Stanford Robinson have entered a pretrial diversion program, beginning a process to have charges stemming from an incident earlier this year dismissed.

Ferrell and Robinson were arrested outside of Kilroy’s Sports Bar on April 25 after attempting to enter the bar while underage. Each was arrested, released and cited for minor consumption of alcohol and possession of false identification.

The Indianapolis Star’s Zach Osterman first reported the news.

By completing a pretrial diversion program, Indiana residents can avoid a criminal conviction on their records.

Ferrell and Robinson will be required to perform community service, complete an alcohol education class and not run into legal trouble in the next year.

Ferrell and Robinson were two of three IU players with legal issues last season. Then-sophomore Hanner Mosquera-Perea was arrested Feb. 14 with operating while intoxicated.

The program has not announced any suspensions for Ferrell or Robinson.
