Man threatened with box cutter, robbed of jewelry

Bloomington Police Department is investigating a reported robbery in which a Hampton Inn guest was robbed of jewelry and threatened with a box cutter Monday evening in the hotel parking lot.

Bloomington police officers responded at about 8 p.m. Monday to Hampton Inn, 2100 N. Walnut St., in reference to a robbery.

A 53-year-old man had been unloading luggage from his car in the parking lot when the masked suspect got out of a silver Nissan, held a box cutter to the victim and robbed him of jewelry, the victim told police.

The victim contacted the police shortly after the incident occurred, BPD Lt. Steve Kellams said.

No injuries were reported. The case remains active.
