Local Buddhist monastery to celebrate Dharma Festival

The week-long  Dharma Festival will begin Tuesday evening at the Gaden Khachoe Shing Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, 2150 E. Dolan Road.
 
Ven. Geshe Kunchok will be visiting from Italy, offering teachings throughout the week to commemorate the passing of Je Tsongkhapa, the 14th century Buddhist master who founded the Gelupgpa lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

Kunchok earned the Geshe degree,the highest honor in Buddhist studies from the Gaden Shartse monastic university in India in 1993. He has studied with more than 22 masters and scholars, including Kyabje Trijang Dorje Chang, Kyabje Zong Dorje Chang and Kyabje Zaemey Rinpoche, according to a press release from Gaden Khachoe Shing Monastery in Bloomington.

Kunchok will offer teachings beginning at 6:30 p.m. from Tuesday until Friday. He will also offer two full days of teaching from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
