IU prepares for Euro trip

The IU volleyball team has been practicing all spring to this point — nearly six months removed from its last competitive match, save for a couple of small spring tournaments.However, the Hoosiers get their payoff Wednesday as they embark on an 11-day  European tour for sightseeing and a series of matches against some of the continent’s top youth competition.

On May 19, Ashley Benson and her IU volleyball teammates will begin a trip through Europe — uncharted territory — to face some of the finest youth players from Italy, the Czech Republic and elsewhere.

Freshman Jordan Haverly finds niche at Indiana

It was pretty clear in high school that Jordan Haverly would be playing volleyball at the collegiate level. The current freshman outside hitter just needed time – an extra year – to find the right place for her, and she eventually decided IU was that place.

Weeg to leave volleyball team

After two seasons as a member of the IU volleyball team and Academic All-Big Ten selection this year, Jessica Weeg has decided to call it a career. The sophomore outside hitter made the difficult decision after a season in which she appeared in just seven of 34 matches.

Senior night special for Hall, '09 Hoosier squad

The Hoosiers (15-17, 4-14) dropped a four-set loss to Ohio State (22-9, 10-8) on Friday and nearly took two sets away from No. 1 Penn State (30-0, 18-0) before falling in three on Saturday at University Gym.

Twice this weekend, the Hoosiers (14-12, 3-9) staged rallies to force decisive frames but fell short of victories against No. 6 Illinois (18-3, 10-2) and Northwestern (13-11, 4-8

Hoosiers suffer 2 defeats over weekend

The IU volleyball team’s road trip ended with two more disappointing losses. The Hoosiers (14-10, 3-7) fell to No. 1 Penn State (22-0, 10-0) in straight sets Friday and suffered its third straight defeat at the hands of Ohio State (17-6, 5-5) on Saturday.
