Men's soccer team's road struggles continue

Sophomore forward Andrew Oliver’s goal in the 43rd minute was not enough to bring home the win against Michigan. The Hoosiers fell 2-1 in heartbreaking fashion when Michigan’s TJ VanSlooten scored on a broken up Indiana defense in the 87th minute.

Men's soccer heads to Ann Arbor on Saturday

This weekend IU will be pitted against Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. Indiana leads that series 14-2-1 all-time, and Michigan has yet to beat the Hoosiers on its own turf. The last time the two teams met, however, the Wolverines came out ahead of the then-No. 11 Hoosiers 2-1.

Tuesday night’s 3-0 loss to No. 7 Louisville made a different kind of history: the loss was IU’s fourth in a row, the program’s first four-game losing streak since 1985.

Men's soccer team's losing streak grows to 3

For much of the game, it appeared as if IU would get that victory, taking leads of both 2-0 and 3-1, but a familiar storyline ensued — the Hoosiers were unable to hold on to the lead and fell to Wisconsin 4-3.

The men’s soccer team hasn’t scored in its 222 minutes and 57 seconds of play. They lost 2-0 to both Notre Dame and Penn State, but after practicing finishing the attack this week, they said they hope to put a couple in the back of the net against the Badgers.

In the Hoosiers’ previous game, a 2-0 loss at No. 2 Notre Dame on Wednesday, two first-half goals by the opposition made all the difference. Against Penn State, IU (4-6-1, 1-1) again allowed a pair of first-half strikes and were defeated again by a score of 2-0.

Men's soccer opens Big Ten play with win

Coming into Sunday’s game against Ohio State, the IU men’s soccer team had collected more victories against the Buckeyes than any other team with 37 wins in 44 chances since 1973.
