Starting Tuesday, April 3, student filmmakers have the opportunity to make their own short film through Campus Movie Fest. Films made by students will be showcased at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in a premiere event.

A local Black Lives Matter organization is holding a free screening of the documentary film “Do Not Resist” at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. The film, released in 2016, is an investigation into the rapid militarization of American police forces, and the effects of this on marginalized and minority communities.

Kendall Locey, now a junior, in front of Read where she lived, said she was sexually assaulted there a few weeks into her freshman year in an off-campus fratenity. Kendall walked back to her dorm without any memory at that night. The time period between a freshman's first week on campus in August and Thanksgiving Break in late November is known as the Red Zone, when young students are more vulnerable and at risk for sexual assault. There are many things Kendall wishes she had known prior to that night.
