The lights will be shining on the wrestling mat in Wilkinson Hall on Friday night for the first time this season. A large mat, featuring a cream outline of the state of Indiana, with the crimson IU trident fixed in the center, is stretched across the floor. The lone banner in the stadium, with 1932 National Champions stitched onto the polyester mesh, will be swaying the rafters.
After two straight weekends of traveling, IU head coach Angel Escobedo said he is happy to be home. The Hoosiers returned at 2 a.m. on Monday from West Point, New York. On Friday, IU will really be home, as the team will be back in the comfort of Wilkinson Hall for its first contest in Bloomington this season.
Sophomore forward Race Thompson streaked down the hardwood and planted himself on the left-wing as he toed the three-point line. With 13 minutes left in the first half, he collected himself and checked the defense; he was in the clear.
