Bloomington’s City Council met Wednesday to vote on several amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance, a document that governs how land is used and developed in Bloomington. Although the final changes won’t be solidified for some time, Wednesday’s meeting allowed council members to review certain proposed changes to the UDO.

Over the years, Swift has received a sizable amount of criticism — some of it shallow and focused on her private life, but some of it valid, such as skepticism about her former campaign against Spotify and her use of the controversial Ticketmaster “Verified Fan” program. Though there were times when it seemed like the criticism might catch up with her, she has somehow always managed to rise above.

Earlier this year, on that fateful Super Tuesday when former Vice President Joe Biden came out just ahead of then-presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, I recall watching the results with a crushing sense of disappointment. Here was a candidate I had put my emotional energy into, a candidate to whom I had donated my money and my time. Sanders was never the perfect politician, but his platform and unwavering sense of honesty had moved me and inspired a passion for politics within me that I’d never felt before.

With the first presidential debate having gone down this week, discussions about the upcoming election are being held on every news network and social media site. Among the things being talked about is the expected voter turnout, and whether or not each candidate will be able to inspire people who usually don’t vote to come to the polls.

Sen. Ed Markey, D-MA, defeated his opponent, Rep. Joe Kennedy, D-9th District, in the Democratic primary race for senator of Massachusetts on Tuesday. This particular election has received much attention from the media over the last couple months, perhaps in part due to the rather famous last name of Markey’s opponent.

If there’s one app that’s gotten the most attention in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, it’s the video sharing platform TikTok. Ever since quarantine began earlier this year, the app has become incredibly popular. From funny trends and dance videos to cooking tutorials, TikTok provides lots of great entertainment.

COVID-19 has taught us a lot about what’s important. We have realized how vital certain jobs are, kickstarting discussions on raising wages for such positions. We have realized the value of family and community and have learned a number of different ways to stay connected with those we love, even in the midst of a pandemic.

The Kentucky primary election will take place Tuesday, and the race for the Democratic nomination for Kentucky senator is beginning to heat up. The race will be closely watched, as the winner will face Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell come November.

Since the death of George Floyd at the hands of a former Minneapolis police officer on May 25, people all across the country and around the world have been protesting against police brutality. While most of the protesting appears to be peaceful, there have also been instances of destruction, including setting fires, breaking windows and vandalizing police cars.
