Well, we knew that the Grand Prix of Long Beach wouldn’t be able to top one of the best races in years — the PPG 375 at Texas two Sundays ago — but it was still quite an exciting race. Andretti Autosport’s Kyle Kirkwood captured the first win of his NTT IndyCar Series career in just his 20th career start, leading 53 of the 85 laps.

Indiana men’s tennis was at home this weekend to play its final regular season home matches. Indiana took on No. 4 Michigan on Saturday and No. 69 Michigan State on Sunday. The Hoosiers lost 4-0 to the Wolverines and 4-3 to the Spartans.

It’s been two weeks since former President Donald Trump was indicted by the Manhattan District Attorney on 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal evidence of negative stories about himself leaking to the public, according to an article by MSNBC. There is a lot of speculation that these stories could have influenced the 2016 election had they come out.

IU’s African American Dance Company presented its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. April 15 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Currently directed by Stafford C. Berry Jr., the ensemble has performed at IU since 1974, combining numerous traditions of Black dance.

Just two days removed from a 9-1 defeat in six innings against the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, No. 24 Indiana softball returned home to Andy Mohr Field looking to bounce back. The Hoosiers did everything but bounce back, dropping all three games of a series against Nebraska Friday and Saturday.

Aaliyah Raji and Marsha Koda from the IGNITE campaign were sworn in as IU student body president and vice president during the inauguration of the 76th IUSG executive branch Friday. Raji and Koda are the first Black women to hold either of these positions in IU Student Government.

The Indiana Daily Student and yearbook, Arbutus, were awarded in the creative, editorial and advertising departments by the Indiana Collegiate Press Association this month. These awards entail advertising publication of the year with 10 recognitions, Division I newspaper of the year with 31 recognitions, yearbook of the year with 17 recognitions and second place for website of the year with 8 recognitions.

Ash Soni was appointed the new dean of the IU Kelley School of Business IU announced Thursday. Soni has served as the Kelley School of Business interim dean since July 2022 and will lead the school for the next two years, according to a Kelley School of Business press release.

Entering the weekend with a 9-2 record, Indiana currently sits one game behind Northwestern in the Big Ten standings. The Hoosiers split the midweek schedule with a victory over the University of Louisville on April 11 and a loss against the University of Notre Dame on April 12.

I recently rewatched the pilot episode of “Shameless,” and it got me thinking about how much I love the series. I am definitely a TV person and have watched many shows. But no show has ever come close to topping “Shameless,” and a big reason for that is because of how real “Shameless” gets when depicting substance abuse.

For months, the Bloomington City Council has pursued the potential removal of Greg Alexander, a frequent public commenter — both in council chambers and Twitter — who currently sits on the Traffic Commission. Leading the charge is Councilmember Dave Rollo, who Alexander believes is unfairly prioritizing the Elm Heights neighborhood. Wednesday’s city council meeting will contain further discussion and a possible decision on the matter.

Indiana baseball outlasted Ball State University in a Tuesday night tilt that saw both sides combine for 29 runs. Now sitting at 23-10 on the season, the Hoosiers defeated the Cardinals 16-13 thanks in large part to sophomore first baseman Brock Tibbitts. The corner-infielder went 3-for-3 at the dish, saw 11 pitches in two separate at-bats and clobbered a pair of monster home runs.
