At the end of their run, Head Coach Jean Sherfick encourages the treadmill station to finish strong. This was the second time they had completed the 12-minute run for distance challenge, and soon they would be able to compare data with their previous run.

After their workout, Head Coach Jean Sherfick leads members in a cool-down stretch. She tells them about upcoming Orangetheory events, including a difficult workout week, called “Hell Week,” coming up the week of Halloween.

Despite the early hours, Head Coach Jean Sherfick brings energy to her class and stands on the rowing machine to motivate the members. She knows most of the member’s names and will often call them out individually by name.
Head Coach Jean Sherfick spends one-on-one time coaching a member through rowing. Sherfick, a former yoga teacher, often reminds her students of their mind-body connection and encourages them to push themselves.
Holly Perkins, a senior at IU studying health care management and policy, helps members sign in for their classes. As a sales associate, Perkins’ job included making phone calls and providing general customer service.
Orangetheory Bloomington’s bright orange sign and interior lights welcome guests inside at 4:45 a.m. The gym’s first class started at 5 a.m., and the coach, sales associate and some members were already inside.
A whiteboard in the gym lists the day’s rowing workouts while members do a weightlifting workout behind it. There were three different stations members cycle through, including rowing, weightlifting and running on the treadmill.
