After finishing fifth in the Big Ten and missing the NCAA Championships for the first time in seven years during the 2021 season, Indiana rowing entered March 2022 looking to improve. Although the Hoosiers failed to reach the NCAA Championships, they recorded a better finish in the Big Ten and stayed competitive throughout the season.

In today’s landscape of college basketball, players who opt out of the NBA draft after their first two years or choose to ignore the option of the transfer portal are a rarity. These Indiana men’s and women’s basketball players had the option to leave Bloomington, whether it was to play professionally or at a different school, but decided to remain Hoosiers.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden won the Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on Sunday. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Marcus Ericsson came in second and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, the race’s pole-sitter, finished third. Though he has yet to snap his three-year winless streak, Rossi has five top-ten finishes in his last six starts.

Indiana men’s basketball freshman CJ Gunn competed as part of the Indiana All-Stars in a two-game series against the Kentucky All-Stars over the weekend. Gunn was named MVP of the competition after leading Indiana to two blowout wins and posting 41 total points.

There is still a long way to go toward total inclusivity; for example, stories that don’t revolve around white cis-gendered men are often overlooked. Still, progress has been made.
