The Indiana General Assembly announced the proposed U.S. House of Representatives and Indiana State House of Representatives districts Tuesday. Unsurprisingly, the new district lines are expected to benefit the Indiana GOP.
In Indiana, 1,266,129 individuals are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as of April 6. As more people are vaccinated, more people are also sharing their experiences with side effects from the vaccine. This shouldn’t discourage anyone from being vaccinated — side effects are usually mild, and proof that the vaccine is working.

Electing Democrats in Indiana has been an uphill battle in recent years, and this election was no different. Dr. Woody Myers may not have won the gubernatorial election, but he made important progress in the state. A flier advocating far-right ideas was first spotted on campus at the end of August, and copies were still being found as recently as last week. “IU WOKE ENOUGH?” stretches across the top of the flier in bold letters. It’s a question that has an easy answer — no.
Last month, President Michael McRobbie announced his retirement, concluding his decades-long service to IU. He held key administrative roles, working his way up from the vice president of information technology in 1997 to university president in 2006. Instead, I’ve been on Twitter, where I’ve seen a lot of tweets about being productive in quarantine. Knowing that William Shakespeare wrote "King Lear" during quarantine doesn’t make me feel any better.
As the death count from COVID-19 approaches 550 nationwide, the best and worst of humanity is on display. Some Americans are self- quarantining or sewing masks for healthcare workers, while others are on spring break trips and stockpiling toilet paper.
Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill might have his law license suspended because he allegedly groped a state representative and three legislative staffers at a party in 2018. If his license is suspended following a state Supreme Court decision, he might be forced out of office and Gov. Eric Holcomb could appoint his replacement. However, there is no precedent for an attorney general’s license being suspended, and Hill could attempt to remain in office and run for re-election.
A bill that would essentially prohibit panhandling in downtown Indianapolis is advancing in the Statehouse.
Two online charter schools, Indiana Virtual School and Indiana Virtual Pathways Academy, defrauded Indiana at least $68 millionby falsely claiming enrollment from 2011 to 2019, a state audit found this month.
There were three racist incidents involving IU staff this month. A bus driver aggressively told a black student to move back on the bus, an employee of an IU-contracted third-party company harassed sophomore Andrew Rhodes for riding his scooter in the road, reportedly calling him a racial slur, and junior Taylor Carlton was reportedly asked multiple times for ID in the Intramural Center while a white student was not.
Little white ducks were found all over campus last Thursday. These snow ducks were carefully crafted by IU senior Cody Rogers.
