Indiana softball successfully extended its win streak Tuesday night with a 9-1 win over in-state foe Butler University at Andy Mohr Field. The game lasted only five innings as the Hoosiers run-ruled the Bulldogs.

After Indiana softball swept its opening Big Ten series for the first time since 2016, freshman second baseman Taryn Kern and sophomore first baseman Sarah Stone were awarded a pair of Big Ten awards. Stone was awarded co-Big Ten Player of the Week on Tuesday, sharing the award with Rutgers senior third baseman Payton Lincavage. Kern was honored with Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the third consecutive week.

Fresh off another sweep, this time against then-ranked No. 22 Maryland, Indiana softball is back in action for a trio of midweek games. Team 50, now 22-9 on the season and winners of 15 straight, host Butler University on Tuesday for a game before traveling to West Lafayette, Indiana, for a doubleheader against rival Purdue on Wednesday.

Five weeks ago, Indiana softball participated in the ESPN Clearwater Invitational, one of the premiere softball tournaments yearly. The Hoosiers got the chance to show their metal on a grand stage against some of the top college softball programs in the country. Team 50 desperately struggled, going 0-5 and finishing with a run differential of -39 in those five games.

Indiana softball returned home this weekend to take on the No. 22 Maryland Terrapins (22-5) in a three-game series at Andy Mohr Field. After extending their win streak to 12 games in Memphis, the Hoosiers looked to carry momentum into the beginning of conference play.

Indiana softball returns to Andy Mohr Field this weekend to open conference play against No. 22 Maryland (22-5). On Saturday, the Hoosiers will face off against the Terrapins in a doubleheader with the first game taking place at noon and the second game at 3 p.m. The final game of the series is set for noon on Sunday.

For the second straight week, Indiana softball freshman infielder Taryn Kern earned two accolades. After winning Big Ten Player of the Week along with Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week March 13, Kern was honored with Co-Big Ten Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week on Monday. Kern shared the player of the week award with Ohio State sophomore outfielder Melina Wilkinson.

Already on a six-game winning streak, Indiana softball continued its Tennessee road trip with a quartet of games in Memphis. All six of those wins came in the Volunteer State, a perfect 5-0 showing at the Lady Bison Classic followed by a 10-6 victory over Belmont University on Tuesday.

Team 50 will look to extend their eight-game win streak after a perfect 5-0 finish in the Lady Bison Classic on March 12 and a victory over Belmont University on March 13.

Indiana softball defeated Belmont University 10-6 behind strong performances by sophomore pitcher Brianna Copeland and freshman catcher Avery Parker. Copeland started in the circle for the Hoosiers, giving up just one run on four hits in four innings.

Following Indiana softball’s perfect 5-0 weekend at the Lady Bison Classic, freshman infielder Taryn Kern received Big Ten Player of the Week along with Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors. Kern and Maryland freshman pitcher Keira Bucher were joint winners of the latter award.

Indiana softball returned to the diamond this weekend with a superb showing, finishing 5-0 at the Lady Bison Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. The Hoosiers only gave up an impressive six runs with sophomore pitcher Brianna Copeland shining in the circle, giving up zero earned runs on 11 hits in the 19 innings she pitched.

Indiana softball returned to action this weekend, hosting its home opening series, the Hoosier Classic. University of Wisconsin Green Bay, Purdue University Fort Wayne, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis and the University of Wisconsin were all in Bloomington this weekend to compete in the Hoosier Classic alongside Indiana.

For the first time this season, Indiana softball competed outside of Clearwater, Florida, participating in the University of North Carolina Greensboro Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina just one week after a weekend to forget at the ESPN Clearwater Invitational.
