The Indiana Medical Licensing Board found Caitlin Bernard, an IU Health OB-GYN who provided abortion care to a 10-year-old girl from Ohio in July 2022, violated state and federal privacy laws in a hearing Thursday. Bernard will receive a letter of reprimand and a $3,000 fine for charges related to treatment she provided but no harsher punishment.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jennifer McCormick, who announced the launch of her campaign Thursday morning, walked into the back of Switchyard Brewing Company on Thursday night to the cheers and chants of supporters. Among the sea of blue and gold “Jennifer McCormick for Governor” signs were Democratic nominees for mayor and City Council District 5 representative — Kerry Thomson and Shruti Rana — as well as members of College Democrats at IU and the Monroe County Democratic Party.

A competitive local primary election season concluded with several unseated incumbents, meaning the Bloomington City Council may look drastically different next January. All Democratic candidates are currently unopposed except for Hopi Stosberg, who will face Republican Brett Heinisch in November. Republican, Libertarian or Independent candidates can file to run for the general election by the summer.

Throughout his presidency, former President Donald Trump created stark division, ultimately causing corruption to ripple throughout the American government. One prime example is the attack on the Capitol held on Jan. 6, 2021, where Trump had previously told those who voted for him that the election was rigged. This moment represented the influence that Trump had on far-right conservatives to the point where they physically attacked the Capitol, imposing their own view that the election was rigged, ultimately revealing how much corruption can be found within America as a whole.
