Members of the Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition (IGWC) assembled at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Franklin Hall to formally file a request to IU President Pamela Whitten’s office explicitly calling for a living wage minimum based on the MIT Living Wage Calculator for graduate workers — known as Student Academic Appointees (SAAs). The IGWC also asked for the union to be recognized by the administration through voting rights.

IU cancelled Palestinian abstract painter Samia Halaby’s exhibition, which had been planned for three years, according to a two-sentence letter to the artist Dec. 20. After unsuccessful appeals to the IU administration, Madison Gordon, Halaby’s grandniece who works with Halaby’s studio, started a petition urging the university to reinstate the exhibition, which has garnered 9,360 signatures as of Friday evening.

IU President Pamela Whitten was awarded a $162,500 bonus by the Board of Trustees for her second-year performance Indiana public media article obtained in a public records request. The bonus was approved unanimously by the board at their Aug. 24 meeting. The bonus is 25% of her $650,000 annual salary, the maximum allowed in Whitten's employment contract.

Protestors from IU climate action activism group Students for a New Green World gathered at Sample Gates on Friday to demand IU follow through with its proposals in its climate action plan, passed earlier this semester on Sept. 11. Talking to passersby and receiving support from honking cars traveling on Indiana Ave., the group often turned their megaphone directly south to Bryan Hall, where IU provost Rahul Shrivastav's office is located.
