Women's swim and dive leads Big Ten Championships

With a first and a second place finish in the night's only two events, IU women's swim and dive leads the competition after one day at the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis. The Hoosiers have 74 points, just ahead of Minnesota's 72.

FINAL: IU loses to Michigan 70-58

For the third consecutive built a lead only to see it go away in the second half. The Hoosiers lost to Michigan 70-58. The Hoosiers had six point lead at halftime, but as the second half got underway, the Wolverines began to catch fire. Michigan opened the second half on an 11-2 run to storm to take a 37-34 lead with 16:37 remaining. As the Hoosiers struggled to convert on second-half baskets, the Wolverines pulled away.

Halftime: IU leads Michigan 32-26

After the first half of play, IU leads Michigan 32-26. Senior forward Tabitha Gerardot led the Hoosier offense with 16 first half points off 7-of-10 shooting. Gerardot gave IU the lead with a layup as freshman guard Larryn Brooks found Gerardot with a half-court pass. She hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final minutes of the game, including a 3-pointer with 1:05 remaining to give the Hoosiers a five point lead.

Penn State defeats IU 71-63

IU women's basketball gave No. 11 Penn State second-half scare, but the Nittany Lions proved to be too much down the stretch and handed IU a 71-63 loss. Senior guard Maggie Lucas scored 32 points to lead the Nittany Lions. Senior forward Simone Deloach had her second-consecutive double-double.

Halftime: Penn State leads IU 37-31

After one half of play, Penn State leads IU 37-31. Penn State senior guard Maggie Lucas started the game by rattling off a 7-0 run, forcing IU Coach Curt Miller to call timeout less than two minutes into the game.

Deloach named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll

Senior Simone Deloach was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll, as announced by the Big Ten on Tuesday. Deloach finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds in IU's 76-69 victory against Wisconsin on Saturday. The 6-foot-3 forward is averaging 5.7 points and 5.87 rebounds per game this season, but has gotten hot in IU's recent games. Her double-double against the Badgers caps a four-game stretch where Deloach has averaged 9.75 points and 9.25 rebounds per game. Deloach and IU are back in action Thursday when No.

Doubles Line-up Sees a Change vs. Northern Illinois

Hoosiers Sweep Double Header Friday

The Hoosiers improved to 4-4 this season after defeating Xavier and Western Michigan both by a score of 6-1 on Friday. A common theme in both matches was the success of the IU's underclassmen in both singles and doubles play. In the first match against Xavier the lone doubles team win came from the sophomore pairing of Samuel Monette and Daniel Bednarczyk.

Larryn Brooks scored 22 points to lead IU to a 76-69 victory over Wisconsin. The Hoosiers improved to 17-6, 4-6 in Big Ten play while the Badgers fell to 10-13, 3-8 in Big Ten play.
