?Coleman named to Associated Press' All-American team

Another day, another postseason honor for Tevin Coleman.

The junior running back continued to pile up recognitions on Tuesday when he was named an Associated Press First Team All-American.

He is the first Hoosier to be named to the AP First Team All-American list since Vaughn Dunbar in 1991. Anthony Thompson was also an AP First Team pick in 1989.

Coleman had previously earned first team honors on the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s All-America Team, ESPN, CBS Sports, USA Today, Scout.com and Fox Sports, which was also announced on Tuesday.

Coleman, a First Team All-Big Ten selection, finished seventh in the Heisman Trophy voting and was one of three finalists for the Doak Walker Award, annually given to the best running back in the nation.

Coleman’s record-shattering 2014 season was highlighted by becoming the 18th plaer in FBS history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season. His 2,036 yards ranks second nationally and is the best single-season rushing performance in IU history. He recorded 11 games with 100-yards rushing or more.

The Tinley Park, Ill., native was also given the Anthony Thompson Most Valuable Player award and Corby Davis Memorial Award (for an outstanding running back) at the Hoosiers’ football banquet.

ETC—Former Hoosier offensive tackle Andrew McDonald was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday after being waived by the Indianapolis Colts on Monday…IU running backs coach Deland McCullough was named to the Big Ten Network’s Tom Dienhart’s Big Ten All-Assistant Coach Team. IU offensive line coach Greg Frey was considered for the team as well.
