An Indianapolis suspect is cooperating with Bloomington police in an investigation of the reported molestation and rape of a 15-year-old.
The Bloomington girl reported to a school counselor she had been sexually assaulted multiple times since September 2011, when she was 14.
The school counselor informed the Indiana Department of Child Services, and the case was forwarded to the Bloomington Police Department.
The suspect, Damon Moss, 39, was arrested Oct. 10 in Indianapolis on an unrelated active warrant in Hamilton County and was taken to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department, where he was interviewed, BPD Sgt. Dana Cole said.
The suspect is currently facing preliminary felony charges of sexual misconduct with a minor.
Rape charges have yet to surface due to conflicting accounts of whether the acts were consensual, Cole said.
Cole said Moss turned himself in to Bloomington police at the station at about 2 p.m. last Thursday.
