The Office of Sustainability has extended the deadline for IU’s first IU-Bloomington Campus Sustainability Awards until Oct. 22, according to a press release.

The new award, which will be presented during a ceremony Nov. 14 will recognize sustainability-related contributions to the Bloomington campus. Four awards will be distributed: Excellence in Research, Excellence in Teaching, Leadership Award and Team Award.

Faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni and community members are eligible to win. Individuals or groups can be nominated for the award.

The award selection committee will consist of sustainability professionals from IU South Bend, DePauw University, IU-Purdue University Indianapolis, Ball State University and Purdue University.

The committee will choose winners based on the criteria in line with the Campus Sustainability Advisory Board’s “2020 Vision” for campus.

That vision says IU should be recognized for its “campus environmental quality” and outreach programs that “facilitate and demonstrate the path to a more sustainable future.”

“The campus sustainability initiative at Indiana University Bloomington has made huge strides in the past four years because of the innovation and hard work of hundreds of students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members,” Director of Sustainability Bill Brown said in a press release. “It’s time to celebrate their remarkable accomplishments and thank them for their leadership, innovation and positive impact.”
