The family of Lauren Spierer, an IU student who has been missing since June 3, 2011, announced Friday that they have increased the reward money offered for information.

The award is now $250,000. It was increased from the $100,000 that was originally offered, according to a press release.

The Bloomington Police Department responded with a press release from Lt. Bill Parker, who said the department is aware of the reward. He added that police hope the incentive will lead to Spierer's return and the discovery of those responsible for her disappearance.

The department is releasing no further information at this time.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police at 812-339-4477.
