With four additional commitments from rising high school senior football players last week, IU continues to build its 2012 recruiting class numbers despite a late start.

Leading the slew of commitments are wide receiver Kevin Davis and linebacker Jordan Wallace, teammates at powerhouse Warren Central High School in Indianapolis. Both are rated as three star recruits by www.rivals.com.

Davis was the second receiver from Indianapolis to commit in as many days as Caleb Cornett of Ben Davis High School who gave a verbal pledge.

Mike Cotton  of O’Fallon in Illinois also committed to the Hoosiers on Thursday. His commitment, along with Wallace and previous commitment Nick Mangieri, gives IU a trio of linebackers in the fold for 2012, making it a possible emphasis in this recruiting year for new IU head football coach Kevin Wilson.

Many college football teams had already made considerable headway on their 2012 recruiting class when IU received its first commitment June 12 from Ohio lineman Alex Todd. In the 11-day span that followed, though, IU received seven additional verbal commitments.

All eight recruits hail from Indiana, Illinois or Ohio, suggesting that IU will continue to recruit from familiar local territory under Wilson.

The commitments are non-binding until National Signing Day in February. College coaches cannot comment on recruits until that time.
