IU has created a $50,000 fund to help cover costs related to the search for missing IU student Lauren Spierer, university officials announced Tuesday.

Lauren has been missing since Friday, June 3.

The fund is being established within the not-for-profit corporation the IU Foundation, and it will be used to help feed and house searchers, provide for transportation and offset costs of equipment and materials, such as making photocopies of missing person flyers and maps.

According to a press release, the account will be overseen by Dean of Students Harold “Pete” Goldsmith, who has been working closely with Lauren’s family throughout the search.

Expenses will be reimbursed based upon receipts pre-approved by Goldsmith.
