A 20-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted during the IU-Purdue tailgate on Saturday to the IU Police Department, said Capt. Jerry Minger in a press release.
IUPD has identified a person of interest who is not an IU student, according to an IUPD press release. Investigators are working to confirm his identity after the woman talked to IUPD and helped create a composite.
The woman reported being raped near the 1200 block of Woodlawn Avenue by a male she described as about 20 years old with medium brown hair in a “buzz cut.” She also told police the man was wearing a Purdue jacket, though he said he wasn’t a Purdue student, and his first name might have been “Ron,” and his last name might begin with an “L,” according to the release.
IUPD has located the exact house where the assault took place and has collected additional evidence from the house, according to an IUPD press release.
The victim told police she arrived at the Red Lot tailgating field with her family at about 1:30 p.m. and became separated. While looking for them, the victim asked the suspect for help and he told her that her friends were at a nearby house. He took her to the basement where he said there was a party and assaulted her between 5 and 6 p.m.
The police encourage anyone with information about the reported attack to call IUPD at 855-4111.
