Many of the problems that have plagued IU this season were not a factor – the Hoosiers were more careful with the ball and sharpened their defense from the past two games.

Even seldom used center Tijan Jobe scored a bucket. But as has been the case many times this year, the Hoosiers (6-22, 1-15) didn’t have enough to pull off the upset.

Penn State (20-9, 9-7) guard Taylor Battle’s 16 points led the way as the Nittany Lions came away with a 61-58 victory on their senior night. The Hoosiers had a lead late in the game, but Battle found Penn State senior Jamelle Cornley for a thunderous dunk that put the Nittany Lions ahead for good.

IU had the ball with a chance to tie as time expired, but freshman Matt Roth’s  game-tying shot was contested and hit the rim short.

Junior guard Devan Dumes led IU with 16 points.

Coach Knight? You can't be serious. I remember when we had Branch (Phil)McCracken; this never happened under him. If only we could resurrect him and make him coach, the world, and IU basketball, would be like it once was. Have you ever read "Who Moved My Cheese?" I'm also an alum of Indiana and I still cheer for my team and don't live in the past. YOU are what is frustrating.

I'm an alum of Indiana and I just don't understand how IU misses so many freethrows! This never happened under Coach Knight and it's frustrating to see. In the last 4 minutes again today, IU missed potentially 3 FT's and they should have been playing to win and not tie the game. SO FRUSTRATING!
