IU Executive Director for Engagement Tony Armstrong was named the new president and CEO of the IU Research & Technology Corporation on Friday.

Armstrong has held that position at  IURTC on an interim basis since April, according to an IU press release. One of Armstrong's priorities is to examine whether IU's primary agent of economic development is fully serving all of it's faculty and staff researchers.

"Tony has all the specialized knowledge needed for the job, and he's proven himself as an effective organizer and administrator," said IU President Michael McRobbie.

Armstrong was appointed deputy director of the Indiana State Budget Agency in 2005, a position he left in February 2008 to become the executive director of engagement. Armstrong holds degrees from the IU School of Law,  Butler University, and the Kelley School of Business.
