North Central High School senior Eric Gordon signed a letter of intent this morning to play for Kelvin Sampson and the Hoosiers next season. Gordon, who is the No. 2 recruit in the nation according to Rivals.com, held a private ceremony at his high school to make the announcement.
"Everything's done now," Gordon told the Indianapolis Star. "I'm heading down to IU after school is over. It's a big relief. Now I only to have to focus on a couple things before I head to IU."
Gordon changed his verbal commitment from Illinois to IU on Oct. 13 and attended Hoosier Hysteria. He is one of four players with verbal commitments to the Hoosiers for 2007.
Besides Gordon, several of the other verbal commitments are expected to sign with the Hoosiers today. Sampson will hold a press conference at 5 p.m. tonight to announce all of the early signees.
The early signing period for recruits goes from Nov. 8 to Nov. 13. So far, the Hoosier have four verbal commitments who are expected to sign letters of intent, which would leave one scholarship still open.
