TV Recap: “The Simpsons” ‘Pranks and Greens’
Brian Welk

If Bart is going to meet the most legendary prankster in the history of Springfield Elementary, shouldn’t his big prank be a bit more clever than a pool filled with worms? Is that really clever at all? No, it’s not, and it’s not funny either.
After a series of pranks that put Principal Skinner over the edge, he reveals to Bart that he’s been through much worse at the hands of other pranksters. Determined to track him down, Bart learns from Groundskeeper Willie that Andy Hamilton, the former prank king, filled the school’s pool full of worms and trapped Principal Skinner in it for days. The ordeal morphed him into the bitter, mean principal that he is.
Bart tracks down Andy (voiced by Jonah Hill) to learn that he is still living as though he were the ultimate prank king, and yet 19 years old, unemployed and living with his mom. Lisa explains to Bart that this guy is a loser, and Bart is concerned based on how similar the two are.
Bart gets Andy a job with Krusty, and when he thinks Andy is pulling the same worm prank, Bart rescues Krusty from the worm filled pool only to learn that he is now a television writer, and hence, still a loser.
In the completely unrelated story to the main one, Marge attempts to make the family and Maggie healthier after being rejected by the overprotective mothers of other babies. There’s a good scene inside an organic food store, probably because it is one of the few with Homer in it. “There’s no standies for potato chips, no standies for candy. There’s no standies of any kind in this store.”
And it all makes sense now; the reason why out of 6 episodes in the season, there has yet to be a truly decent one that was not a Treehouse of Horror. There have been no Homer-centric episodes. He is, and always has been, the best character on the show, and they are denying him some great moments.
Seems like an easy fix guys.
