TV Recap: ‘Meet the Browns,’ “Meet the Two Left Feet” and “Meet the Lessons”

Two stunning developments strike Brown Meadows to start the third season of “Meet the Browns.” Will has been spending time away from home to “work late,” and Colonel and Ms. Edna’s relationship has grown faster than Mr. Brown can change outfits.

Will and Sasha embrace. Will's faithfulness is called into question as Season 3 of "Meet the Browns" began Wednesday.
The episode starts with Sasha looking for someone to dance with her for the upcoming Latin dance. But she and everyone else know Will can’t dance, so she asks him who wouldn’t be busy who could dance with her? In walks Mr. Brown singing, “B-a-n-g-o. Bango was his name-o.” Not going to cut it. And then Will leaves because he has to work late again.
Ms. Edna is suspicious and brings it up to Sasha, who is appalled at first that Ms. Edna would suggest Will might be deceiving Sasha. But then Cora enters with the laundry, including one of Will’s shirts that has another woman’s lipstick on it. Then the floodgates of worry and suspicion are opened. Could Will be cheating on Sasha? “Ooh, I hope my nephew ain’t turnin’ into one of dem transformers,” Mr. Brown says.
Later, Colonel and Ms. Edna — who can’t keep their hands off each other — announce they will be moving in together and out of Brown Meadows. How two people who were disgusted with each other for most of the past two seasons can suddenly be in love is beyond me.
Will works late again, and Sasha brings up the lipstick shirt, to which Will, a doctor, laughs and gives the lame excuse that a patient kissed him in thanks for removing her kidney stones. Will leaves, and Mr. Brown fuels the flames of suspicion in Sasha’s mind by telling her that Will’s dad used to cheat on his mom, which Will had never told her.
We finally see Will with the other woman, who is definitely not his patient. But she’s not his lover either; she’s his dance instructor! It turns out Will has been lying to Sasha while he takes dance lessons to surprise her. Of course, Sasha catches Will with the woman in a misfortunate moment that cements in her mind that Will is cheating. Will doesn’t help the situation when Sasha confronts him later about the other woman; all he can think about is how betrayed he feels because she followed him and is calling him a liar.
Cora and Sasha get to talking, and they decide—at Cora’s prompting—that they need to go show this mistress of Will’s who she’s competing with. So Sasha puts on her hottest dress, and they set off to the dance studio to show her what’s what.
But when they get there, Will walks in and finally gets to telling the truth, that he was learning how to dance. Surprise, surprise, everyone else in Brown Meadows was in on it, and Sasha is so touched that she forgives Will. As a dance party ensues, Colonel turns to Ms. Edna, does the unthinkable and says, “I wanna dance with my wife,” and proposes right on the spot. She says yes, and Mr. Brown calls off all the lovey-dovey stuff, yelling, “Enough of this animals gone wild. Let’s dance!”
“Meet the Lessons”
Somehow, Mr. Brown mistakenly is eating birth control pills because he thinks they’re mints. They aren’t Sasha’s, and so Mr. Brown takes his daughter aside and asks, “Cora, you been doing love?” But they aren’t hers either — or Miss Daisy’s or Ms. Edna’s. Will looks at the pill box. They’re Brianna’s.
Will is irate and can’t believe 15-year-old Brianna is out having sex. Sasha tries to calm him down and convinces him to let her handle the situation with Brianna.
In the meantime, Cora meets an old high school friend, who interviews for the principal job at Cora’s school. They go on a date, and it goes well. Not much went on here, but it looks like we may be seeing more of him.
Sasha confronts Brianna, who says she’s taking them “just in case” because she sees other girls dropping out of school because they are getting pregnant. Sasha comes to an understanding with her but says that Will doesn’t. Will gets home, Sasha tells him she let Brianna keep the pills, and Will blows his top. He thought they agreed that it wasn’t OK and feels betrayed because he trusted Sasha to take care of the situation.
Brianna comes home late on a school night, and Sasha, fueled by Will not speaking to her now, gives Brianna the lecture of a lifetime out on the front porch. The conversation ends with Sasha saying, “You don’t have to like my decisions — you don’t even have to like me — but you are going to respect the rules of this house. And if you don’t like that, you can just march your little self on out there and go find your momma.” She then slams the door in Brianna’s face.
The next morning, Will and Sasha jointly talk to Brianna and take the pills from her until she comes to them to discuss sex. Brianna is ready to talk then. But, unlike other episodes, this one ends without the difficult situation resolved.
