News round-up:’Southland’ officially picked up by TNT, more ‘Chuck’ and a hero says goodbye

With this blog being operated by college students, there is always that one time each semester when things get a little slow. Sadly, that has been the last few weeks (thanks midterms!) but hopefully things will pick up here at least until finals come to whip our assess.
Anyway, while we were all busy, a number of stories developed (all mostly related to NBC of course), but I still wanted to give my two cents anyway.
Southland picked up by TNT
Right after NBC heinously axed the gritty cop drama Southland last month, fans were clamoring for it to be picked up by a cable network and most had TNT in mind. Well, it seems TNT had a similar thought, as the cable net officially picked up the program on Monday. The deal is for all 13 episodes (seven for S1 and the six un-aired ones from S2) and TNT will start airing them, in order on January 12 — opposite Jay Leno. Drama. Ausiello also spoke with star Michael Cudlitz who said TNT might add in a few cut scenes from the S1 episodes to make them even better. Though this is great news, TNT has NOT ordered any more “new” episodes of the program. It looks as though the net will wait and see with the agreement that if the ratings are good enough, more episodes will be ordered. All actors are being kept under contract.Chuck gets more episodes
In smart NBC news, the Peacock ordered six more episodes of Chuck late last week, bringing the season three total to 19 (couldn’t they at least push it to an even 20?). Sure, this is great news, but it also means that the rumor that NBC wants Chuck to debut earlier than its original post-Olympic March date (probably January) is more likely to be true. I’m still not sure how I feel about that move, because I could absolutely see NBC unspooling a handful of eps in early January and then not publicizing the program during the Olympics (which was the original plan), leaving the audience to forget about it once it returns for the rest of the season in March. As active as the base audience for Chuck is, NBC needs more people to watch this show. It’s the Peacock’s best asset right now. Don’t screw it up.
Adrian Pasdar says goodbye — again. For real this time. No seriously.
It’s be revealed that Adrian Pasdar will “officially” leave Heroes sometime in January. Though it’s sad for the nine people who still love the show, didn’t his Nathan actually die last season (and like four other times in the series’ run)? Pasdar deserves better, so good for him.
NBC kills Trauma, show then gets highest rating
In a move that came as no surprise, NBC killed Trauma last week by deciding to not order any more episodes past the original 13. But just because NBC has terrible luck (though they deserve it), the program hauled in its biggest ratings in a while last night in the first episode after the cancellation announcement. LOL.
