‘Smallville’ S9 spoiler: Is the ‘S’ here?

July 9th, 2009 by Cory Barker

EW’s Michael Ausiello, always one to maybe-kinda-sorta skew the truth when it comes to his spoilers, just dropped a possibly major bombshell of a spoiler for the ninth season of SMALLVILLE. From his weekly spoiler post:

Question: I’m looking for a majorĀ Smallville scoop. –Corina
Ausiello:
You found it: The iconic “S” symbol will be all over the show in season 9. Including on Clark’s chest.

This can’t be what it should be right? There is no way that SMALLVILLE is going there are they?

I think they just might be. Read the rest of this entry »

“Dollhouse” may be getting the shaft from FOX – it looks as though right now that the network has decided not to air the 13th and final episode of the series, and instead promoting the 12th as the season finale. This is probably a marketing strategy to get more Whedon fans to buy the DVD sets [like they were not going to anyway], but also a signal that the show is not coming back for a second season. [TV By The Numbers]

*SPOILER* Ausiello is reporting that the rumor that George will A.) go off to war and B.) probably die is coming to pass on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Even more of a shocker, all of that is going to happen this season. Remember when that show was actually good? [Ausiello Files]

Ratings report from last night: “The Unusuals” debuted very soft, like worst premiere for ABC this season soft, pulling in only 6.8 million viewers and a 2.2 in the 18-49 demo. That’s not good news, but one could say that a series low for “Lost” [8.3 million, 3.7] didn’t help. “Lie to me” [8.4 million, 2.5] and “Idol” [22.4 million, 7.8] helped FOX win the night. Duh. [Live Feed]

The journalism ethics folks are going to be up in arms about this one – The L.A. Times did a major front page, below the fold feature on police officer Ben Sherman today. The only problem? Ben Sherman is Ben McKenzie’s fictional character on the debuting “Southland.” The piece is signaled as an ad, but renting out the front page is a little much, no? [Variety]

Bravo has picked up “NYC Prep,” the “real-life ‘Gossip Girl.” As popular as the “Real Housewives” series is, I can’t imagine this show being any less than a substantial success for Bravo. Is this the new “Hills?” Probably. Yay. [Broadcasting & Cable ]

It’s more or less confirmed that Arnie will be appearing in the new “Terminator” film. Not a big surprise there, but the bigger question is what exactly the Governator will be doing – an actual cameo? His face matted onto the body of some endos? Or just a little voice spot? It will be interesting to see if WB and the flick’s producers promote this to get more people to watch it, or keep it a major secret. [MTV News]

Ratings from last night: “American Idol” fell 24 percent from the premiere [to 22.4 million viewers, 8.9 18-49 rating] while its presence helped “Fringe” improve [12.1 million, 4.7/11]. Inauguration coverage powered the other networks. Let me just say, what a good number for “Fringe.” Last night’s episode was tremendous, and hopefully “Idol” will give it the exposure to mainstream it deserves. It is not “Lost,” anyone can watch. So do it. [The Live Feed]

Pam and Jim might not get married this season on “The Office.” Good. I don’t think this has to be some big season finale event that NBC can pimp out forever. I’d love to see it be in like episode 7 of next year in the middle of October or something. [Ausiello Files]

Man, stories like this get me so excited. It’s possible that a new NASA rocket could launch giant telescopes. The Ares V rocket, which will launch in 2018 is the largest rocket ever and according to Harley Thronson, an astronomer leading advanced concepts in astronomy at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. “It could revolutionize astronomy.” Awesome. [MSNBC]

Good piece here on what FOX’s giant pilot order means to Sci-Fi TV fans. My thoughts: expect the worst. [io9]

Check out this great viral video for “Watchmen” talking about “10 years of Dr. Manhattan.” Man, I hope this movie lives up to the hype and [especially] effort they’re putting in to it. [H/T to /Film]

Ratings report for the first big day of 2009: It actually looks good for a few networks. First, “The Big Bang Theory” and “How I Met Your Mother” continued their great run, hitting series highs. Both had 11.8 million viewers and strong demo figures [4.4 and 4.8 respectively]. “24″ had a 100 percent retention rate [12.3 million, 4.1] from the first night of its premiere. Oddly, on the CW “Gossip Girl” was steady with 2.9 mil, while “One Tree Hill” had a better 3.1 mil number. [The Live Feed]

This is a really bad idea, which means it will absolutely get to the big screen. Supposedly, Kevin Williamson has been hired to pen a draft script for a fourth “Scream” film. Wes Craven might come back to direct, and they might try to get the original film’s stars [David Arquette, Courtney Cox Arquette and Neve Campbell] in for a cameo. [Blood Disgusting]

Talk about a career gone bad. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s third remade Asian “horror” flick is now going straight-to-DVD instead of being released in theatres this month. My lord, what the hell happened? In less than a two years she’ll be begging to do any “Buffy” related events. Get a new agent, Sarah, for the love of God. [CHUD]

This is a fucking horrible idea. Jackie Chan is going to play Mr. Miyagi in the “Karate Kid” remake which also stars Jaden Smith. Why does Hollywood insist on screwing up all the films from the past? WHY?!? [EW]

Awesome report here by io9 about their exclusive look at “Terminator Salvation.” I’m actually fairly excited for this film, it might be my number two behind “Watchmen.” Beware, it does include some spoilers though. [io9]

Chuck Bass needs to grow a pair. *SPOILTER ALERT*

October 28th, 2008 by smarghit

I think I missed something and the CW already posted pictures from the next episode. But I’m going to use them anyway because they apply.

The only thing I really care about on this show most of the time is Chuck Bass and or Blair Waldorf.

Sure, you might not be as popular as Joe the Plumber, but hey, things could get better. At least the Dow is only down 44 points as of 1:39 PM. Take the edge off and enjoy some linkage.

Interesting story here. Steven Soderberg has cast legitimate porn star Sasha Grey in his newest small-budget film “The Girlfriend Experience.” Sure, the film is about a high-priced call girl, but this is still pretty cool of Soderberg to take a chance on a porn star. [Variety]

So Kevin Smith’s new film “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” is having even more trouble with the marketing campaign. Television stations and newspapers are refusing to run spots because of the word “porno” in the title. How ridiculous is this? The censorship in this country is probably out of control. [/Film]

Just a couple weeks after he was named the best rapper alive, Eminem is back. The new album is called Relapse, and could be out in December. [MTV News]

This is really weird. Jared Padalecki has confirmed that his Sam Winchester is, in fact, having sex with a demon on “Supernatural.” And he’s supposed to be the good guy? [TV Guide]

Great story from Jeff Jensen about the new “Star Trek” movie. It seems this could actually be good and Zach Quinto looks likes a badass as Spock. [EW]

FBI has seen a pretty substantial rise in computer related crime. That kind of sucks. [MSNBC]

Hmm. One of Saturn’s moons is possibly made of liquid and it’s leaking out? Check out the pic from NASA and story from io9:

Welcome to October ladies and gentlemen, the best month for weather all year. Sure, the economy is in a downward spiral, but enjoy some excellent links to get your mind off our financial disasters.

Lil Wayne is blogging for ESPN, and it’s actually pretty good. He likes the Rays to win the World Series, smart man that Weezy. [ESPN]

The terrorists have truly won: In the midst of a dispute with publishers over share of earnings, Apple is seriously considering shutting down the iTunes music store. May God help us all. [CNN]

This story continues to amaze me: A hiker in California has possibly find items that may belong to long-missing aviator and crackpot Steve Fossett. Fossett has been gone for over a year when he just hopped in a small plane, never to be seen again. [MSNBC]

Last night’s ratings are in, and FOX’s duo of “House” and “Fringe” took in very solid numbers both overall – 12.7 mil and 10 mil respectively – and in the key demos. “90210″ came in with 3.2 mil overall, staying fairly steady week-to-week. [Variety]

[SPOILER] Spoiler champ Ausiello has revealed that Foreman and Thirteen will be hooking up later this season on “House.” I thought Foreman was asexual? [EW]

Jack Black is planning a spy/”Bourne Identity” movie spoof scribed by the “Kung Fu Panda” writer. Could be good, right? [Reuters]

With “Smallville” coming to an end [hopefully this season] The CW is planning to replace it with “The Graysons,” a hour-long about Dick Grayson aka Robin as a teen. It’s being developed by “Smallville” writers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson. How about a “Green Arrow” show instead, you idiots. [/Film].

Last night’s Gossip Girl: like your highschool’s mystery casserole.

September 30th, 2008 by smarghit

Allow me to explain my subject line. Last night’s GG episode had a lot of the same crap we already know all combined together into something far too familiar. And the good stuff, you only get a little taste of.

Exhibit A:

Blair has mommy issues, and is jealous of Serena.
