In west Philadelphia born and raised, Live Buzz blogger Alexa Altman got her start hustlin’. Alexa is a Victoria’s Secret Pink Campus Representative Intern, and no she will not give you free panties or hook you up with Tyra Banks. Alexa is also the Indiana Daily Students resident fashion columnist, and just like Heidi says “one day you’re in and the next day you’re out.” Paula Deen, Law and Order and her dog Moses make her smile. The Office and her hilariously normal roommate make her giggle.

Kat is a junior studying English and History, and no, she’s not sure what she’s going to do in life. However, she does know she loves writing, reading, and obsessively checking CNN for updates on evolving stories. In terms of the future, she is contemplating the pros and cons of opening a pie shop, becoming a florist to the stars, or settling down as a small-town pet shop owner. Right now, she’s just focused on not getting another noise violation from her apartment complex.

She is the Public Relations Director for WIUX 99.1 FM, and has her own radio show Mondays from 3-4 PM. When she can wake up early enough, she walks dogs at the Monroe County Animal Shelter, and babysits her angry Betta fish, Chingy.

Stefania is a senior studying Art History, Journalism and Romanian. She can remember listening to music as early as she can remember anything. She is originally from Romania, and spent her grade school years in Auburn, AL. Although it’s become a bit of a cliché, she knew she wanted to be a music journalist ever since Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous” first came out. Stefania started writing for the Indiana Daily Student her freshman year at IU, and has since held multiple editor positions. She is currently the Live Buzz Editor, an intern for Secretly Canadian Distribution and art department volunteer for the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction.

Writing. Music. Writing. Music. It’s a constant tug-o-war between two loves, but I somehow manage to make it work and, more often than not, see that they can blissfully co-exist. As a Junior Journalism Major with a concentration in Music Studies from Akron, OH(yet born and raised west-coast style in Long Beach, CA,), I write not only for this lovely little Live Buzz blog, but also for the IDS and its entertainment weekly insert, the WEEKEND. However, I spend most of my time at IU’s student radio station WIUX, where I serve as a DJ and co-Music Director. After spending a life-changing month abroad in London and Liverpool in May, on a trip through IU’s Jacob School of Music where I spent intensive time studying the lives and music of my favorite band, the Beatles, I’m not yet sure whether life after graduation will call me back across the pond. However, whether here or abroad, I can see myself in a variety of music or journalism related fields in the future, including music promotion, radio or label work. However, I ideally hope that I might one day settle in a career in magazine journalism as a music editor. Way cool.

Katie is a Junior majoring in Journalism with a second concentration in History. She writes for the IDS and Live Buzz, but spends most of her time at WIUX 99.1 FM, where she is the Special Events Director and a DJ from 7-8 PM on Wednesdays. At WIUX, she plans concerts and charity events, as well as their all-day annual festival, Culture Shock. She is also a former intern for Secretly Canadian Distribution, as well as WTTS 92.3 FM, where she is now a part-time employee. When not busy with school, she digs watching Top Chef, listening to Jens Lekman and The National, and reading magazines. She wants to one day go back packing in Europe, become a better cook, and work at a record label.

David Ray is a long time reader, first time writer for the Live Buzz. A senior at IU, he enjoys writing, photography, listening to metal, and taking delightful brunches at the local Cracker Barrel. He authors his own blog, Indiana Indie Intern, but could not pass up the male-female ratio of the Live Buzz. He also likes it when you leave comments on his articles about how well-written they are. He has interned at Secretly Canadian Distribution for over a year now, and would like to work at a record label after graduation. Hopefully one day he will be rich and successful so he doesn’t have to worry about blogging for living expenses.
