Hey folks,

With Little 5(party time) and finals(study time), we’ve all been a little bogged down and negligent of our blogging duties. Sure you guys know what I’m talkin’ about.

But those of us that are sticking around this summer are super pumped for some sweet shows(Grizzly Bear, Sunset Rubdown, Julie Doiron, etc. etc.)

For you lucky bastards done with the school year or aren’t in crisis mode, here are some suggestions  for upcoming shows:

TONIGHT: No! MTV Raps @ Farm. I’ll be there, dancing my stress away.

May 3: Jeremy Jay @ Bear’s. $6. Facebook’d.

May 4: Screaming Females, Tammar, Prizzy Prizzy Please @ Cinemat. Facebook’d. ALL AGES!

May  5:

AA Bondy on stage at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN.

Sorry for the delay in getting this review up, kids.

But annnyway, so I went to see AA Bondy at Bear’s Place last Wednesday night, a guy who I saw (and was blown away by) in Nashville, TN in October when he opened for the Cold War Kids. And he was in just as fine a form on Wednesday night as he was then.

The one thing you have to know about Bondy (and the thing you’ll probably hear from everyone around you when you do have the pleasure of seeing him) is that he’s a spitting image of Bob Dylan, in terms of both sound and appearance. It’s almost kind of creepy. It comes as no surprise, then, that Dylan is one of his biggest influences.

Now, I’m going to be honest-I don’t like Bob Dylan. *begin hating me…now* I appreaciate him as an artist, but I’ve just never gotten into his music at all. However, Bondy creates a kind of Dylan with a twist. It’s a little more country, and a little better vocal quality, and the songs he creates sound like something straight from my childhood in good ol’ farmland, Indiana. Everything sounded familiar, even though honestly I’d only heard each song maybe once before. It was familiar enough that I started getting more homesick than I’ve been in months.

But anyway, enough about my problems. The songs he crafted were gorgeous in their simplicity but also sung with enough passion to keep you riveted throughout his set. Hopefully he swings by Bloomington again soon, because I will definitely be taking some time to see him (and you should too).

And if you want to check him out before then, his MySpace page is here.
