Who knew it would be so prophetic? Check out this video that was played on the video board at Scott Stadium. Just in case you ever wanted to know what a walking IU logo looked like …

It’s late and I’ve spent far too much time on the computer today…Far too much time reading blogs…posting blogs..blog mania…Why? Here I am again…Wasting more precious moments of the fast fading total…It’s not fun anymore…I don’t really know if it was ever fun…Maybe I just pretended it to be something it wasn’t….I’m rambling….My point?….The video posted by Nathan…Though in melancholy mood, it brought a smile to my face…I know we got our butts whooped by the Cav’s, but I still couldn’t help finding some joy in that cheesy video…..watching the floppy IU logo looking so awkwardly dumb as it staggered to and fro… For some odd reason it made me feel lighthearted….I shut my computer off after I originally watched the video…I was ready to finally get my tired eyes away from this damn screen….ready to give sleep a try….but I couldn’t let go of the “why”….Why was the stupid video so pleasingly funny?…..
It really didn’t take but a few moments and it hit me…I went back to the old HP desktop and here I am again…One day, one of these ridiculous posts will be my last…Tonight was not the night…I must communicate what I felt from that video…
That video was everything college should be….it was young…it was foolish….it was frolic…it was stupid…it was completely carefree…it was don’t take anything now too seriously (most of every post-college breathing moment finds plenty of time for that)..it was guilt-free light …..it was the total lifting of foolish weight given to any foolish debate….It was simple happiness….Damn, I miss it…Carefree and nonchalant lasts such a short while…Whatever happened to it…When did funny get so complicated…. We all deserve simple happiness…You deserve simple happiness…. Don’t let anyone take it from you…Don’t let them give highfalutin heavy speeches to take it from you….Don’t let them drown you with their creed and beliefs to take it from you…Don’t let FOX or CNN news take it from you…..Don’t let them distort the meaning of freedom to take it from you…Don’t let them use freedom to take it from you…Don’t let deceptive deeds and images be used to take it from you….And here’s the biggest one to watch out for…..Don’t let the mirror take it from you….Please, whatever you do…..Don’t let you take it from you….Look at that video…Save it….Bookmark it….You deserve the tiny ounce of freewheeling horseback riding of the happy Cavalier…You deserve the four short years of I don’t give a hoot…..Laugh at the dumb floppy IU logo..It’s funny! It’s liberating.. No greater love for yourself than to laugh at yourself….How foolish I must be to go on like this…I see so much weight…so much false exhibitions of piety…so much judgment…..So much needless energy spent on stealing your happiness….. I had to speak….Good night.

I went to the game and got to hang out with a UVA senior who was a friend of a friend before the game. She told me they do these videos for all their opponents. She described it as “Cavman finds the other school’s mascot disrespecting us, so he rides in and saves the day.” After the video finishes, the real cavalier on horseback rides out onto the field.
The IU fans in attendance all got a chuckle out of the video. Looking back, getting a real giant letter I pushed over onto one of our guys was about the only bad thing that didn’t actually happen on Saturday.
