Ferrell, Zeller and Oladipo named to midseason watch lists
On Thursday, three members of the IU men’s basketball team were named to midseason watch lists as semi-finalists for both the Oscar Robertson Trophy and the Wayman Tisdale Award.
Sophomore forward Cody Zeller and junior guard Victor Oladipo were among 10 other players from around the country named to the 2013 Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. The other 10 players include two other Big Ten standouts, Michigan’s Trey Burke and Ohio State’s Deshaun Thomas.
In mid-March, the association will announce the 2013 All-America Team, and the player of the year will be announced at a banquet on April 15, the Monday after the NCAA Men’s Final Four.
Freshman guard Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell may also have a chance to join his teammates at the awards gala in mid-April as he pursues the Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year Award. Ferrell was named to the Wayman Tisdale Award Midseason Watch List Wednesday, among 11 other freeman from around the country.
He joins two freshman from Michigan, Glenn Robinson III and Nik Stauskas, as the three players from the Big Ten to make the list that was voted on by members of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
