Several hoosiers mentioned in All-Big Ten honors.
With the conclusion of the Big Ten season came the All-Big Ten Honorees on Thursday night. Eriq Zavaleta, A.J. Corrado, Nikita Kotlov, Jacob Bushue, Caleb Konstanski, Femi Hollinger-Janzen, Richard Ballard and Harrison Petts were all mentioned in the honors.
Zavaleta was named unanimously as Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year following his successful season that outdid his performance as Freshman of Year last season. He was also mentioned to the All-Big Ten first team for the second time in as many years.
This season Zavaleta led the Big Ten in nearly every offensive category with shots (73), shots per game (4.06), points (34), points per game (1.89), goals (16), goals per game (.89) and game-winning goals (5).
Zavaleta’s 16 goals more than doubled the second-highest scorer in the conference.
Joining Zavaleta on the first team is junior midfielder A.J. Corrado. Corrado led the conference in assists (9) and assists per game (.47).
The second team featured junior forward Kotlov, junior midfielder Bushue and senior defender Konstanski.
The All-Big Ten Freshman team featured forward Hollinger-Janzen and midfielder Richard Ballard, both of which saw significant starting time throughout the season.
Petts was one of seven student athletes honored with the Sportsmanship Award for this season as well.
Following a 2-1 loss to Michigan State on Wednesday in the opening match of the Big Ten Tournament, the Hoosiers wait to see if they will be selected for the national tournament in the selection show on Monday.
