Rice Cultivation Society; Rachael's Cafe

Tuesday, 8 PM

Self-introspective; philosophically erudite, and with an album inspired by the fall of Icarus, Rice Cultivation Society certainly embodies the description of "experimental." Lead songwriter Derek Smith, who put together the LP "Sky Burial" by recruiting local musicians, also has a pet duck as you can see-- at least, I think it's a duck. Though the bird may or may not be making an appearance tomorrow night at Rachael's Cafe, the progressive folk indie experimentalist who comprise Rice Cultivation Society will be bringing the dramatic ascents and dizzying plummets of its guitar riffs, accompanied by Smith's strong vocals.
