Austronautalis; The Bishop

Tuesday, 9 PM

"[Austronautalis] is an American song and dance man," reads the self-description on the musician's Tumblr page. It's a combination of humility and vagueness, both of which are extremely rare qualities for rappers to show when arrogance has become the second-most important quality after the microphone. But Austronautalis, a new age rapper whose voice can fluctuate between folksy quaver and anthem boom, delights in the esoteric and the baffling. One of his most popular tracks is named after the founder of the modern periodic table of elements, Dimitri Mendeleev, and his lyrics have the ability to transition between love and physics with equal poise. Austronautalis will be at the Bishop tomorrow night to deliver tunes from his three albums.
