This Wednesday, "chillwave" band Toro Y Moi will be performing at The Bishop. It's mainly the project of Chaz Bundick, who provided pretty much all the instruments on both of the band's full-length releases. The band's first album, "Causers of This" from 2010, was stuffed with samplers and synthesizers and was danceable as hell ("Imprint After" is a favorite cut of mine). It had a similar sound to a lot of other band's popping up in the summer of 2010 like Washed Out, Neon Indian, Small Black, and Memory Tapes.

Earlier this year, Bundick released "Under the Pine," a considerable departure from the previous album. These songs actually feature real instruments and they are funkier than ever. It has elements of classic '70s Stevie Wonder and instantly became one of my favorite releases of the year so far. Based on the albums Toro Y Moi has already put out, this is a show you won't want to miss.
