Got this confirmed on my way home for the night, so it comes to you later than expected, and for that, I apologize.

Anthony Agnew, Anthony Cera, Brad Henke and Trevor McConnell have all left the IU baseball team, Matt Brady from IU media relations confirmed today.

Agnew and Henke decided to end their careers to focus on academics (which makes plenty of sense folks, college baseball is a gigantic time demand). Cera will miss the year with an arm injury, and it's unclear at present whether he will return to the team after the injury. McConnell picked up a shoulder injury last year that wouldn't go away, and he is essentially retiring.

Of the four, Henke saw the most playing time last season, batting .208 over 27 games, 10 of them starts.

McConnell will stay on as a manager, according to Brady.

Just one other note -- you'll notice that there are some new names on the roster at IUHoosiers not previously mentioned in this space, preferred walk-ons and the like. I'll have something about them for you (also from my interview with Tracy Smith) before the Labor Day weekend is out. Have a good one.
