So, the lineups and national anthem just finished and Hoosier starter Doug Fleenor (0-1) is getting in his last warm-ups.

It's a fantasticly sunny day at Sembower field. If you can get out here, please do.

The wind is blowing in, but barely, and I am having to squint from the white glow of the sun reflecting off the Hoosiers' home jerseys.

Top of the 1st- Play Ball!

Fleenor retired the side in order on with two strikeouts. A little trip-up came against Redhawk rightfielder Jon Edgington in the second at-bat. It took Fleenor over 10 pitches to finally force a groundout to short.

Bottom 1st

The Hoosiers' top three hitters were retired without event.

Indiana 0, Miami 0.

Top 2nd

Fleenor recorded his third stikeout today and has now retired the first six Redhawk batters.

Bottom 2nd

Kipp Schutz drew a lead off walk and moved to second on a sac bunt by Jerrud Sabourin. Michael Earley was jammed with a pitch in on the hands and popped out to Redhawk starting pitcher Nick Kurash (0-1 this season).

Chris Hervey was plunked by a pitch in the next at-bat, giving the Hoosiers two men on with two outs. Ethan Wilson flew out to center to end the Hoosier threat.

Through two, Indiana 0, Miami 0.

Top 3rd

Fleenor continues to roll adding another strikeout in frame and still hasn't allowed a baserunner.

Bottom 3rd

Lead off batter David Trager flared a base hit off of his hands into right field, and we then moved to second after Andrew Means laid down a sacrifice bunt. Evan Crawford drew a walk.

Josh Phegley flew out to left field and Trager tagged and hustled all the way to home, scoring the Hoosiers' first run. Miami coach Dan Simonds protested the call saying, Trager left second early, but the play stands.

Evan Crawford stole second, giving the Hoosiers a man on with two outs. The Hoosier half of the third ended with a groundout to first by Schutz.

After three, Hoosiers 1, Miami 0.\0xFFFD

Top of the 4th

Fleenor tallied his fourth strikeout on a check swing by Redhawk lead off hitter, Adam Eaton. Eaton reached first though as the pitch bounded past Phegley. The next batter, Edington bunted to first, Sabourin fielded the ball and opted for the safe play at first, but misthrew the ball. Redhawks had 2 men on with no outs.

The Hoosiers turned a double-play in the next at-bat, but the Redhawks score an unearned run, knotting the game.

Redhawk first baseman Tommy Nurre was hit by a pitch, giving Miami men on the corners with two outs. The next batter flew out to right field to end the Miami fourth.

Bottom of the 4th

The Hoosiers had a man on first and second after Karash walked Sabourin and hit Earley. Hervey laid down a sac bunt and Karash tried for the tough play at third and was unsuccessful, leaving IU with the bases loaded and no outs.

The next batter, Ethan Wilson flew a ball foul which was fielded by the Redhawk first baseman. David Trager gained his second hit of the day with a bunt single, scoring Sabourin and keeping the bases loaded.

Andrew Means was hit in the helmet by the first pitch of the next at-bat, but was unhurt. Another run crossed for the Hoosiers, and would mark the end to Karash's day. The new Miami pitcher was Jamaal Hollis.

Evan Crawford beat out a double play as another run crossed for the Hoosiers. Phegley grounded out in the next AB to end the inning.

They've played four, IU leads 4-1.

Top of the 5th

Redhawk Eric Darlage registered the first of the day against Fleenor with a double. Was moved over to third on a sac bunt and then scored on a sacrifice fly to center by teammate Brad Gschwind. The Hoosiers still had the lead at the end of the Miami fifth, 4-2.

Bottom of the 5th

After a 4-3 groundout, Sabourin doubled to left-center. For the sixth time of the day a batter had been hit by a pitch as Earley was plunked. IU coach Tracy Smith called a hit-and-run with a 1-1 count on Hervey. Hervey swung through the pitch, but both baserunners picked up a stolen base. Hervey then became the seventh batter hit by a pitch, loading the bases for IU with only one out.

Hollis ended his day after walking in another Hoosier run, the new pitcher for the Redhawks would be Steve Antoniotti.

Antoniotti worked his team out of the inning after striking out Trager and getting Means to fly out.

IU leads 5-2 through five.

Top of the 6th

In the Redhawk half of the fifth, Fleenor seemed to find his control once again as he sent down all three Miami batters.

Bottom of the 6th

After Antoniotti got Crawford to ground out, he hit Josh Phegley. The HBP was the sixth commited by the Redhawks, eighth total in the game. Phegley took second in on a fielder's choice by Schutz. Antoniotti was replaced by Samuel Dawes, and Tyler Reimer pinch hit for Sabourin. Reimer ended the Hoosier threat, stiking out.

Two-thirds of the way through the game, IU leads 5-2.

Top of the 7th

Joe Vicini came in to replace Fleenor and immidiately allowed a basehit. The next at-bat saw Andrew Means lay out in centerfield and make a wonderful catch. The Hoosiers continued the highlight reel as they turned a 5-4-3 double play.

Bottom of the 7th

As fans stretched their legs, Miami sent out another pitcher, Brandon Meister who retired the side without incident.

After seven, IU leads 5-2.

Top of the 8th

Vacini worked himself into something of a jam after letting two on with only one out, but remained in the game after forcing two consecutive flyouts.

Bottom of the 8th

Evan Crawford recorded a two-out triple, but prooved to do no damage as Schutz grounded out.

IU leads through eight, 5-2.

Top of the 9th

Chris Squires came in for Vicini to finish out the game for the Hoosiers, without incident.

IU defeats Miami 5-2 and moves to 13-9. Miami falls to 6-18.
