Hey folks,

Big win for the Hoosiers today, beating in-state foe Indiana State 7-2 at Sembower. My boy Ryan Gregg wrote up the wrap of the game, which you can read through a simple click of the mouse right here.

However, all was not cheery for the Hoosiers today. Sophomore southpaw Jason Ferrell, who you may remember as one of the subjects of a story written last week about Tommy John surgery (he had it last year), is no longer with the team.

Tracy Smith used the words "suspended indefinitely" when asked about Ferrell's situation, citing an unspecified violation of team rules. Ferrell was sitting in the stands in IU athletics shorts and a cut-off t-shirt today, and he left somewhere around the fifth inning - or at least I lost sight of him.

Smith was tight-lipped about what Ferrell did - or didn't do - to earn his removal from the roster, but we'll see if we can't get some sort of information about his indiscretions for you soon.

In the meantime, stay with Inside Pitch for continuous coverage of the baseball team through the end of the semester and into the summer. Keep it real folks.
