Animal shelter employees foil cat burglar

Bloomington Animal Shelter employees stopped a 21-year-old local from stealing a cat May 19.

According to police, the local man was in one of the cat rooms at the shelter when he attempted to conceal a cat in his jacket.

Employees became suspicious and stopped him before he left the building. They convinced the man to return the cat without incident and are not pressing charges at this time.

The man had been previously denied from adopting a cat and, according to police, thought he should steal one instead.
