IU once again heads to warm weather for this weekend’s meet

Junior Eric Bethea competes in the long jump in the Hoosier Open Dec. 8, 2017 in Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse. Bethea and the rest of the team will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee this weekend to take part in the Tennessee Relays.

The Hoosiers will travel to the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, to compete in the Pepsi Florida Relays over the next three days. This past Wednesday, the Hoosiers were awarded Big Ten Outdoor Athletes of the week. 

The Pepsi Florida Relays is host to a total of 100 teams, including three nationally ranked teams from the Big Ten, among the 14 ranked teams total. These include No.9 Nebraska, No.16 Penn State, No.13 Purdue. 

The Hoosiers will be going into the third outdoor meet of the season. This will include senior Daniel Kuhn, who will make an 800m debut for the outdoor season, along with freshman Teddy Browning and senior Jordan Huntoon. 

This weekend will also see both the distance medley relay and the sprint medley relay . The men’s team will also compete in the 4x400m and the 4x800m events. 

Although most of the team will be traveling south to Florida, some Hoosiers will be heading out west this weekend. Junior Joe Murphy and six other long distance runners compete in Stanford, California for the Stanford Invitational. This meet will begin on Saturday, March 31, 2018. 

The Pepsi Florida Relays will begin Thursday at 12 p.m. and continue through Saturday and can watched on SEC Network.
