The longest winning streak among NCAA Division I baseball programs in Indiana was brought to a halt Wednesday evening in Terre Haute, Indiana.

IU's 5-3 victory against Indiana State ended the Sycamores' nine-game winning streak and gave the Hoosiers a win in their first game this season against another Indiana school.

Sophomore pitcher Cameron Beauchamp made his third start of the season for IU, but was limited to just two innings of work by IU Coach Chris Lemonis. Beauchamp threw 45 pitches during his two innings.

Indiana State, now 14-6 overall, had a 2-1 lead after those two innings, as Beauchamp allowed both Sycamore runs in the second inning. IU scored in the top of the second via a solo home run from junior catcher Ryan Fineman.

IU, now 17-5 overall, responded quickly with a tying run in the top of the third, as senior outfielder Logan Sowers recorded an RBI single to left field to score junior infielder Luke Miller.

Beauchamp's replacement, senior pitcher Tim Herrin, had his best outing of the season for the Hoosiers.

Herrin struck out four batters and allowed just four hits over the course of his four innings pitched.

The Hoosiers scored the game's deciding run with Herrin still in the game.

Sowers collected his second and third RBIs of the game in the fifth with a two-run home run to left field, which also scored Miller.

Senior pitcher B.J. Sabol, IU's third left-handed pitcher of the game, entered for Herrin in the seventh and pitched two scoreless innings.

An RBI single from junior utility player Matt Lloyd added another insurance run for the Hoosiers in the ninth.

Sophomore pitcher Cal Krueger, IU's first right-handed pitcher of the game, earned his third save of the season by closing the game for IU, although he did allow a solo home run to junior outfielder C.J. Huntley.

IU's four pitchers limited two of Indiana State's most effective hitters, junior outfielder Luke Fegen and senior infielder Dane Giesler, to zero hits in eight combined plate appearances in the game.

IU will continue its stretch of games against Indiana schools with a three-game series against Butler starting Thursday night at Bart Kaufman Field.
