The IU Crimson all-girl cheerleading team placed fifth in the All Girl Division IA at the UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship on Sunday.

This is the second time in seven years the team has not placed first in the competition, and the fifth place finish snapped the two-year title streak the team had going into the season.

The team won five of six national championships between 2012-2017, only placing second in 2015 to the University of Alabama by a narrow margin. The two programs have been competing for the top spot for the past few years, with Alabama frequently just one spot behind IU.

However, this year the University of Oklahoma took first in the division, University of Alabama took second and University of Nevada, Las Vegas took third.
