Rape

A Bloomington woman called police at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to report charges of rape for her 21-year-old daughter.

She told police her daughter said the incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. that morning when a 38-year-old male family friend allegedly raped her in his car.

Officers had the 21-year-old go to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for a sexual assault examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Assault

IU Health Bloomington Hospital security officers reported an assault at 8 p.m. Thursday after a patient allegedly grabbed one of the security officers by the neck.

The security officers told police the suspect, 55-year-old Darrell Allen, arrived at the hospital with a mouth injury that he said was the result of a previous assault.

IU Health employees told police Allen began to get impatient with the wait time while sitting in the emergency waiting room. He then reportedly became loud and disorderly.

Employees told Allen to calm down but moved him into a separate hallway when he continued to be disruptive. Allen allegedly continued to yell and curse from the hallway before security officers approached him.

When one of the security officers told him to quiet down again, Allen allegedly grabbed him by the neck. Other officers then pushed Allen to the ground, handcuffed him and brought him to the hospital’s security room while they waited for Bloomington police.

Police officers took Allen to a back room in the hospital to have his mouth looked at by hospital staff. He was then booked into Monroe County Jail later that night.
