Four Hoosiers earn all-region honors

Members of the IU rowing team practice at Lake Lemon March 23, 2016. They will be competing this Saturday in Bloomington at Lake Lemon.

Four members of the IU rowing team were honored Monday by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). Seniors Emily Barber and Emily Fekete and freshman Antonia Frappell made the all-region first team while senior Alexandra Eaton earned second team honors.

Barber makes the leap up to first team after making the second team last season. Eaton also made a second team appearance back in 2014, but these are the first all-region honors for Fekete and Frappell.

The all-region awards are given out to athletes for their outstanding performances over the course of the season in each of the five regions. These athletes will be eligible for All-America awards selection following the NCAA Rowing Championships.

Student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team’s regional finish, coaches’ recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Each nominee must have competed in at least 75 percent of the team’s varsity races this season.
